Lets get cosy…

The Indian Summer that we so often get in Cornwall certainly hasn’t materialised this year so let’s talk about keeping warm and cosy!

Windows and Doors

None of us want to pay more than we have to for gas and electric.  As much as 30% of heat escapes through seals and gaps in loft areas so make sure any cut-outs for wires and pipes are sealed and there are no gaps around your loft hatch.

Modern Double Glazing will keep your heat stay in but make sure your windows are draught proofed by filling in the gaps between the window and the frame with foam strips or with plastic strips with brushes attached. Local window specialists Quay Windows would be able to help you with any draught issues or repairs.

Heating and Log Burners

A great way to add value to your home and add ambience to your living room is to install a log burner. Buyers love them and they will keep you heating bills down too!  Newquay Woodburners do a great job of installing them and can advise you on what will suit your room and style best.

Most of us will be turning our central heating back on this month.  It is a god idea to have your boiler serviced so that you can be aware of any problems before a real cold snap!

The positioning of your furniture matters!

So many of us have our sofas against a radiator but all that will happen is your sofa will be absorbing the heat and it won’t get chance to circulate around the room.  Try re-arranging your room for the winter months.  Make sure curtains are tucked behind radiators to allow the heat into the room and put some rugs down on hard floors.

Get Cosy!

Create a cosy environment and you won’t feel as cold! Light some candles, invest in some soft lighting or fairy lights and Indulge in some throws and blankets for your sofa.  They can double up as picnic blankets for the Summer!
